Explanation of Demi Moore's hospitalization

Published: Jan 25, 2012 by virtuosa Filed under: Gossip & Rumors Movies

Demi Moore made headlines on Tuesday when she was hospitalized for "exhaustion." The news of the health scare may not have been too surprising to celebrity watchers who have been closely keeping an eye on the actress in the wake of her split from Ashton Kutcher.

In 2011, Moore's personal life became heavily scrutinized when "Two and a Half Men" star Kutcher faced allegations that he was cheating on Moore. The actress has been lying low of late — she appeared in several smaller films in the past year, including "Margin Call" and "Another Happy Day."

Last fall, shortly before she announced her split from Kutcher, Moore had many fans worried about her health after she appeared thinner than usual at several red-carpet appearances to promote "Margin Call." But she kept up a brave face in the wake of all the rumors regarding her appearance and her marriage.

It all came to a head in November when Moore and Kutcher confirmed that they were separating. In a statement, Moore said, "It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton.

As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation."

In the months since the announcement, Moore has kept a low profile, but in early January she was cast as feminist icon Gloria Steinem in the "Lovelace" biopic currently shooting in Los Angeles.

Since her hospitalization, Moore has dropped out of "Lovelace." Her next film release is "LOL," starring Miley Cyrus and Ashley Greene, due out later this year. "I really loved the movie; I loved working with [Cyrus] and the director. They just put it on pause because they had another film they were focusing on. It's a tough thing when you have a movie you're looking forward to coming out," she said of the flick.

Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle comedy tour?

Published: Jan 25, 2012 by virtuosa Filed under: Gossip & Rumors

Six years later, we are still lamenting the loss of one of the funniest (and most successful) sketch shows in television history, “Chappelle’s Show.” While comedian Dave Chappelle has kept an insanely low profile – occasionally making rare surprise appearances at comedy clubs at ungodly hours like 2:40AM – he’s supposedly “still got it” and it appears Chris Rock is itchin’ to get the star back on tour.

Rumors first surfaced last October about a Rock/Chappelle joint comedy tour between the two icons, but nothing ever came of the walk … until now. Vulture caught up with Rock at the Sundance Film Festival to talk about his upcoming movie “2 Days in New York” (a sequel to the underappreciated gem “2 Days in Paris” starring Julie Delpy and Adam Goldberg), and he slyly revealed the tour still might happen.

“I’ve been talking to Chappelle a lot. Been trying to get Chappelle to go on tour,” he said. Watch the Throne even apparently provided some new inspiration: “After seeing Kanye and Jay-Z, I was like, ‘Me and Dave should do this.’”

Last August, Chappelle conducted his first interview in five years with San Fransisco’s Wild 94.9 and shed absolutely no light on his career or future (other than explaining a recent “meltdown” he had in Miami, where he stood on stage silently without telling jokes for 45 minutes). If you’re worried our favorite comedian is on drugs, his recent new physique argues quite the contrary. We’ll keep our fingers crossed, because we can’t imagine the love this tour would get if it actually comes to light.

Justin Timberlake Shines In Coen Brothers Flick

Published: Jan 25, 2012 by virtuosa Filed under: Movies

"W.E." star Oscar Isaac is deep in musical preparations for the next Coen Brothers film, "Inside Llewyn Davis," in which he'll play the title character. In a couple weeks, Isaac and his castmates, including Justin Timberlake, Carey Mulligan and Garrett Hedlund, will be on set, but until then they are in the recording studio putting the finishing touches on the film's musical elements.

"Right now I'm gearing up for the Coen Brothers film, which is all music based," he told MTV News at the New York premiere of the Madonna-directed "W.E." "So that's actually taking up a lot of the musical creative energy. So excited."

Isaac, much like his co-stars, has dabbled in music, having put off recording his own music to focus on the film. And with some assistance from some big-name musical heavyweights, the music is destined to shine. The actor said the cast is currently in the studio with Timberlake, the Punch Brothers, T-Bone Burnett and Mulligan's fiancé, Marcus Mumford — what he called an "amazing group of musicians."

"It's folk from the '60s — old songs passed down for many generations — but new takes on them," he said of the songs being used in the film, which follows the life of a New York City folk singer in the 1960s. "Obviously we have the hindsight of now and so we kind of revisit these old songs. They're hopeful and beautiful and in contrast [to] the life of a folk singer, which is not very beautiful at all. It's very drab and dire. It's a screwball comedy."

As for Timberlake, the pop star best known for his bouncing beats can sing folk too. "He's perfect, really pure," Isaac said.

How do you think Justin Timberlake will do with folk music? Sound off in the comments.

Ne-Yo becomes an executive at motown

Published: Jan 25, 2012 by virtuosa Filed under: Music

When you think Motown Records, you think of artists like Diana Ross, the Temptations, Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson, just to name a few. Now Ne-Yo joins the legendary list of soul and R&B singers that will record under the iconic brand created by Berry Gordy in 1959.

The Grammy Award-winning singer (and co-star of the George Lucas-produced "Red Tails") has moved from Def Jam to Motown Records, according to a statement sent to MTV News on Wednesday (January 25). Not only that, Ne-Yo will also take over as the label's senior vice president of A&R.

"I'm honored that I¹ve been given such a prestigious title and trusted with such responsibility; terrified because I know that playing this role in the fashion of one of my career role models, Mr. Smokey Robinson — these are big shoes to fill. But trust, I can handle it," the singer said in the statement.

Ne-Yo released his debut In My Own Words on Def Jam in 2006 and dropped three subsequent albums with the powerhouse hip-hop label. The singer/songwriter's fifth LP will now come through Motown, which, like Def Jam, falls under the Universal umbrella. In addition to his artistry and ear for talent as an A&R, Ne-Yo will also bring his Compound Entertainment imprint over to Motown.

"His track record of success at Def Jam will always be a benchmark," said Universal Republic and Island Def Jam Motown chairman/CEO Barry Weiss in the same statement. "But this move to Motown will provide new and inspiring challenges for Ne-Yo as both an artist and a key member of the new senior management team that is taking form at the label in 2012."

Senior Vice President of Motown Ethiopia Habtemariam added that signing Ne-Yo, who has written for Rihanna ("Take A Bow"), Beyoncé ("Irreplaceable") and Mario ("Let Me Love You"), will only bolster Motown's historical reputation for making great R&B.

"We are committed to discovering, developing and nurturing R&B/soul superstars here at Motown," she said. "In Ne-Yo we have both a global superstar and arguably one of the best songwriters in music. His presence on the executive team only strengthens our commitment to be the very best in R&B."

What do you think of Ne-Yo's move over to Motown? Tell us in the comments!

Adele's 21 still breaking new sales records

Published: Jan 25, 2012 by virtuosa Filed under: Music

dele's 21 gives a whole new meaning to "Achy Breaky Heart." And since the singer's unstoppable album will notch its 17th non-consecutive week at #1 next week on the Billboard albums chart, she now shares that honor with Billy Ray Cyrus' breakthrough, Some Gave All, which did the same in 1992.

After blowing past the 1997 "Titanic" soundtrack last week, Adele sold another 95,000 copies of 21 to keep the top spot, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. That was more than enough to lock out the 21st edition of the Kidz Bop series, which will debut at #2 on sales of 59,000.

The only other new face in the top 10 is gospel act James Fortune & FIYA's Identity, which moved 18,000 units.

The rest of the top 10: Black Keys' El Camino (#3, 29,000), Drake's Take Care (#4, 29,000), Rihanna's Talk That Talk (#5, 20,000), Young Jeezy's TM 103: Hustlerz Ambition (#6, 19,000), Toby Keith's Clancy's Tavern (#8, 17,000), Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto (#9, 17,000) and Nickelback's Here and Now (#10, 17,000).

Otherwise, it was pretty quiet, with punk band Attack Attack! sliding into the #11 spot with their new one, This Means War (17,000), and the soundtrack to the Dolly Parton/Queen Latifah feel-good movie "Joyful Noise" jumping up nine spots in its second week to #12 (just under 17,000). Down at #26 was protest folkie Ani DiFranco with Which Side Are You On? (11,000) and, at #33, soft rockers Snow Patrol, whose Fallen Empires tumbled 28 spots in its second week on the charts.

Adele might be safe for another week if the latest from country star Tim McGraw doesn't push her out of the top spot. Other new releases include albums from Lamb of God, Kellie Pickler and Amnesty International's four-disc Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan compilation.

Fake celebrity pregnancies and the motivation for surrogates

Published: Jan 10, 2012 by virtuosa Filed under: Gossip & Rumors
The entire baby hollywood baby hoopla started a few years ago and has become a right of passage for starlets, singers, actresses and bimbos who feel on the verge of complete irrelevancy. Lately there is a fascination surrounding how fast these women bounce back from a pregnancy. You see entire news sections devoted to how "Such and such looks absolutely amazing" 3 weeks after giving birth...

This is all public relations work folks. There is a growing market for believable baby bumps and what makes it even more comical is that some of these women do a horrible job at feigning their pregnancies. Yes you'll see them follow the trained steps of showcasing difficulty in sitting down or standing up during interviews (Purposely orchestrated). Most of the celebrities in question only became relevant because of their beauty, most of them have betrayed close friends, lovers, and family in the hunt for that fame. Some have schemed, charmed, or slept their way to their success. These are some of the most vain human beings on planet earth, would they risk their fame and beauty on a baby? Most certainly not.

I talk to a ton of P.R. people day in and day out via my work online. I write about music, film, and scandal. I know people in these marketplaces and how they think. The reality is a star is a star but so long..95% of them don't last long and the ones who do last owe that to their public relations team. Everyday a girl turns 18 and poses a credible threat to an established woman in the industry, so yeah going out finding a surrogate, faking a pregnancy, and then basking in the glory of how good you look after your supposed pregnancy is one way to keep your name out there.

Angry moms plan to sue Beyonce and Jay-z over hospital fiasco

Beyonce and Jay-Z did NOT pay $1.3 million so the Destiny's Child singer could give birth to Blue Ivy in a sealed off private floor ... this according to the hospital.

According to the rep, "The family does have its own security detail on site. However, the hospital has been and continues to be in control of managing all security at the facility. TMZ broke the story ... moms at Lenox Hill are considering filing a lawsuit against the hospital, claiming they were treated like 2nd class citizens when Beyonce rolled in this weekend.

"The fighting could get pretty intense," an additional source says of Kutcher, 33, and Moore, 49. "Whatever counseling they did was fine for a quick fix but could not get to the heart of the problem."

NYPD arrest would be mad bomber in terror sweep (full details)

Published: Nov 21, 2011 by virtuosa Filed under: News

New York (CNN) -- Authorities have arrested a man they claim was plotting to detonate pipe bombs, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Sunday night.

The Manhattan man's intended targets were U.S. military personnel who had served in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as U.S. postal facilities and police stations, a source close to the investigation said before the mayor's announcement.

The suspect allegedly learned how to make a pipe bomb after reading Inspire, the al Qaeda terrorist network's English-language online propaganda, recruiting and training magazine, according to the source. He is believed to have been acting alone.

He'd acquired all the material need for the explosive device, going as far as drilling holes into the would-be pipe bomb in an informant's apartment, the source said. But while he'd allegedly made plans for his attacks, the explosive device was not yet operational.
